The Year in Two Halves: What the First Six Months Taught Me - June 28, 2025

What if we broke the year in two — not as a resolution, but as a rhythm? A moment to stop, breathe, and reflect. Not every milestone shows up in a calendar invite. Some of them are internal. Some of them are invisible until you pause to look back.

The first half of the year has passed, and I’ve learned to honor it. To observe what bloomed, what didn’t, and what’s still taking root.

What I Built (and What I Let Go Of)

In the last six months, I launched new beats, dropped art bundles, redesigned my entire site, and finally gave my work the visual and emotional presence it deserves. I shifted from building just to build into building what feels right.

I’ve also let go of chasing every trend, every platform. Some things weren’t aligned. And that’s okay.

What I Learned

  • Less is often more when it’s done with soul.

  • A project doesn’t need to go viral to be valid.

  • The people who feel your work are more valuable than those who just click it.

  • You can’t expect growth from what you don’t nurture.

What’s Coming Next

  • More exclusive drops for members

  • Deeper art. Clearer sound. Better service.

  • A stronger focus on storytelling and community

If the first six months were about building — the next six are about refining.

Medium Version

Title: The Year in Two Halves: A Reflection on the First Six Months

What if we looked at life in two parts — the first six months and the six that follow?

It’s not about goals or productivity hacks. It’s about reflection. About choosing to see our own story as a work in progress — with chapters.

So here’s what I found when I turned the page on the first half of the year.

What I Accomplished

  • Launched new music and digital bundles

  • Rebuilt my store from the ground up (hello bsbw.me!)

  • Produced and released creative work across multiple mediums

  • Started putting structure behind the chaos

These weren’t massive headline-making moments, but they were mine. Quiet wins. Deep roots.

What I Learned

  • Discipline is quieter than motivation

  • Rest is a creative tool

  • You don’t need to chase every trend to be successful

  • Meaningful engagement matters more than reach

What I Liked (and Didn’t)

I liked:

  • Creating from a place of truth

  • Seeing my work resonate with real people

  • Evolving instead of reacting

I didn’t like:

  • The pressure to be everywhere at once

  • Burnout disguised as ambition

  • Being creative for the algorithm instead of for myself

What’s Next for the Second Half?

  • Intentional releases, not reactive ones

  • More work that feels soulful and timeless

  • Serving my audience instead of the feed

  • Finding joy in the process again
